Welcome to the new site. We have been going for one week now and already there have been some problems to troubleshoot. This is the thread where you can make suggestions or report bugs.
For instance, I shared some memes the other day but all those images appear broken. I’ve reached out to technical support and they provided a suggestion. I will try it out and if it works then we will be in business.

I don’t know what’s causing code to appear in people’s posts (pictured below) but I’ve opened a support ticket to get it figured out. This is an issue I first encountered when reading @Nance week 2 reflection for The Idea of the University. Now I just saw it again in one of @phillip-shinn‘s posts.

We’ve found a solution to one bug… Right now when people login to the site we’re directed to WordPress login. It works, but the problem is the first option is for WordPress.com instead of the .org. It turns out this is ANOTHER of the problems that comes from the Jetpack WP plugin’s default settings. I’ll get it taken care of later today. For now, a meme about constantly having to deal with bugs and technical support:

I don’t even report most of the bugs and technical support tickets that are being worked on because that would take so much extra time, but this one has to be mentioned.

One of the biggest problems that became apparent this week? The hosting for this site was not sufficient for the amount of attendees Saturday evening (first lecture of FTKNWTD). The forums were taking forever to load and Nikki received the error pictured below.

Long story short? The time has come for a cloud hosting upgrade. That’s a problem, and cost, that I wasn’t planning on dealing with so soon. But now that the 2.5 hour process is over, and the changes are underway (it will take 4-5 days for migration to complete), all I can think is that growth pangs this early is a good sign. Thanks for your patience everyone!

Thanks for the heads up! This one was human error – I was sleeping because my alarm/sense of time was all wrong. 😬

One of these days I’ll take you all for a stroll down all the support tickets I’ve submitted and worked through with professional troubleshooters just to get this site to where it is. I was going to keep this thread updated with those, but chronicling this bullshit every step of the way would take twice as long as just doing it. For now, I’ll just say that I watched this video because I ran into the same issue this dude ran into… I found it quite relatable.

I’m running into this bug: When I click on “edit” to fix a typo on a post, it sends me to “New Reply” instead. I would just delete it and repost but it seems like I’m unable to delete the post from the forum I posted it to. Even though I can delete it from my timeline, the post still remains in the forum. Would also like to know how/if I can edit tags in forums. I thought I was creating tags for a specific post/meme, but it looks like they’re tags for entire forum itself. Sorry, I’m still trying to figure out how everything works and making a lot of blunders in the process. Thanks, David.

Great bug spot! Thanks. I’ll report this to technical support. The normal website edit and delete buttons just don’t work after a given period of time (which I might be able to extend). This is a way of preventing changes that could cause confusion (on the side of the programmers, but also for the discussions). It’s one of those things I would like to see changed though!
