A lot is happening! My god. My first real book TIMENERGY and Underground Theory both become available on September 2nd! Slavoj Žižek is joining us for the launch event, and you’re invited! Info below.

Theory Underground is publishing Underground Theory and TIMENERGY at the same time Sept. 2nd! The first is an anthology of underground essays with some big name contributors who support the idea of what we are doing. TIMENERGY is my baby, which I wrote mostly last year while working at Amazon. It’s about the most important concept ever. Check this blurb from Elton L.K. of the Working Class Intelligentsia podcast if you don’t believe me:

Event Info

The book/tour launch event takes place in Boise, 7am to noon Mountain Time, at 5015 Bond St, Boise, ID 83706 in the Concave Room.

Meeting Žižek

Dave will introduce TU and Mikey. Mikey will introduce Žižek. Then they will both interview him!

If you are not in Boise, ID, for the event, then you can purchase tickets to the Zoom call here. The virtual side of the Žižek interview costs $15! (App subscribers, $50 patrons, and featured contributors in the Underground Theory volume get to join free!)

The Hub Event This Saturday

As the APP notification alerted users a few days ago (let me know if you did not receive it… I’m still troubleshooting these missed notifications with tech support!), we are not having any regular HUB events this week. However, this Saturday IS a HUB event after the Žižek interview.

The agenda:

• Zizek Interview **EDIT: New times! Slavoj had an emergency so it got pushed back a few hours (good, so you can sleep in!) 9 AM (Pacific Time)
  10 AM (Mountain Time)
  11 AM (Central Time)
  12 PM (Eastern Time)
  6 PM (European Central Time)

Then the order will go:

• Bryce Nance and Ann Snelgrove-McKerracher will share about the Underground Theory book and tour plans.
• David McKerracher will say some words about the TIMENERGY book.
• Elton L.K. will present on his piece, how The Vampire Castle is PMC
• Bryan Weeks will present his piece and some thoughts on education and underground theory.

The event will go for 3 to 4 hours!

There will be some other HUB activities within that time-frame, but that’s a surprise. The JOIN link for this special HUB event will go out the MORNING OF. Best way to get it is to download and register with the Theory Underground App, and make sure your notifications are on! (or if you are a patron / app subscriber you have access in your special forum!)

Finally, for those trying to plan ahead for courses:

• CMT (Critical Media Theory) lectures resume in September and take place on the second Sunday of every month. Ann and I are really excited to do these next lectures! Even if you cannot make the live events you may want access to the recorded sessions. Enroll here.

• Intro to Nick Land begins the last Saturday of October and goes for four weeks. Even if you cannot make the live events you may want access to the recorded sessions. Enroll here.

• Being and Time resumes for Division II on January 6th, 2024. It will continue to take place on Saturdays at 9am PDT / 12pm EDT / 6pm CET. This gives new sign ups an opportunity to catch up on Division I (which is free with the purchase of Div. II), so if you know someone who wanted to be a part of this, they could ostensibly catch up over Christmas break! Even if you cannot make the live events you may want access to the recorded sessions. Enroll here.

• Timenergy Seminar begins in January, but the date and time won’t be decided until Ann and I have gotten settled at the end of November. You’ll know by mid December at the latest, but we’ll hopefully have a sense for it later. These will be monthly lecture-seminars on the history of philosophy read from the standpoint of timenergy, leisure, and freedom. The time we choose depends on our work schedules + the availability of our main gang (CMT research participants, B&T students, HUB regular attendees, etc. who are committed to the Timenergy Seminar).
